Mariyappa Mudaliyar (Aged 66), was born in the year 1917 to Arumuga Mudaliyar and Muthayi Ammal in Chennakiri, Irsusanampati, located near Salem District in Tamil Nadu, India. During his school years, he held a deep fascination with the principles and ideology of Mahatma Gandhi. In 1930, he actively participated in the Salt Satyagraha and engaged in pelting stones at the police station.
Due to his involvement in putting up posters displaying slogans denouncing the British tyranny, Mariyappa Mudaliyar faced a six-month imprisonment in Coimbatore prison. Notably, he declined to accept a martyr’s pension. His life came to a close on the 28th of April, 1983. He passed away on 28 April 1983.
