Anna Patrave (Aged 19) born in 1924 in Satara, Maharashtra, India, was highly active in anti-British activities. The British police noticed the spread of Quit India saboteurs in Satara and launched a full-fledged campaign against them. Anna Patrave, along with several other saboteurs, was arrested and detained at the Sangli Central Jail. On 24th July 1943, they made a daring attempt to escape from the jail. However, the Sangli State police, hearing about the escape attempt, followed them, and in the ensuing encounter, Anna Patrave was tragically shot and killed on the same day.
