Arjuna Bhoye

(1870 – 1930) – (Maharashtra)

Arjuna Bhoye (Aged 60) was born in 1870 in the village of Ozar, Nasik District, Maharashtra. His father was a farmer. In 1930, he took part in the Civil Disobedience movement in Maharashtra and joined the Jungle (Forest) Satyagraha in Nasik against the levying of grazing fees. On 19th October 1930, he actively participated in a protest demonstration against the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police at Chanakapar. However, the police suddenly opened fire on the demonstrators, tragically killing four people, including Arjuna Bhoye.
