Dahyabhai Patel (Aged 63), born on 10 November 1905, was the son of Indian leader Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and a member of the Parliament of India. He was educated at Bombay, graduated from Gujarat Vidyapith, and began working for Oriental Insurance Company, settling in Bombay. Patel was a Congressman and was elected as a member of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation in 1939, where he spent 18 years. Although primarily a businessman, Patel participated in the Quit India movement and was imprisoned from 1942 to 1944.
He left Congress in 1957 over disagreements with Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Patel requested to fight the 1957 Lok Sabha elections as a Parishad candidate but decided against it after rebuke from his sister Maniben Patel. He eventually became the vice president of the Parishad and was elected to Rajya Sabha in 1958. He passed away by 11 August 1973.
