Duyum Padung hailed from Yemsing village, situated in the Kebang circle of the East Siang district in Arunachal Pradesh, India. In 1911, he met his demise at the hands of the Abor Expeditionary forces, led by Major-General Hamilton Bower. Duyum displayed tremendous bravery and selflessness in the face of the British expeditionary forces who were on a mission to assault his village. Together with Yakkong Padung and fellow villagers, they fiercely resisted the British forces. However, the British, armed with superior artillery and weaponry, overpowered the Yemsing villagers through intense gunfire and bombardment. This compelled Duyum and his compatriots to withdraw. Unfortunately, many villagers sustained gunshot wounds, and Yemsing village was reduced to ashes. Tragically, Duyum Padung, like Yakkong Padung, succumbed to his injuries while defending his village against the British forces.
