Kailash Nath Katju (Aged 81) was born on 17th June 1887, and he was a prominent Indian politician. He held various high-ranking positions throughout his career, such as the Governor of Orissa and West Bengal, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Union Home Minister, and Union Defence Minister. Additionally, he was one of India’s most renowned lawyers and part of some of the most notable cases of his time, including the Indian National Army trials.
Katju joined the Indian independence movement at an early age and spent several years incarcerated with fellow independence activists for his activities. He began his legal profession in Kanpur in 1908 before moving to Allahabad in 1914. There, he completed his LL.D. from Allahabad University in 1919 and joined the Allahabad High Court as an advocate in 1921.
In 1937, he became the Minister of Law and Justice and Parliamentary Affairs of the United Provinces in Govind Ballabh Pant’s cabinet. He was elected to the legislature from the constituency of Allahad district (Doaba). Dr Kailash Nath Katju wrote many books, articles, and delivered many memorable speeches. He passed away on 17th February 1968.
