Konda Lakshman Bapuji

Konda Lakshman Bapuji (Aged 97) was born on September 27, 1915, in Wankidi (Khurdu), Adilabad district, Telangana, India. He gained popularity as a leader fighting against caste-based discrimination in rural areas. The exploitation of Vetti labor in Armoor taluq of Nizamabad caught his attention, which was based on profession/caste-based labor/material extraction.

Bapuji advocated for eleven armed actions to overthrow the Nizam’s regime and trained people in the art of throwing bombs to physically eliminate the Nizam. He was a practicing lawyer who defended the victims of various cases against Visunuru Rama Chandra Reddy. He had close ties with the Communists, fighting for the people’s rights in a democratic manner. His life is a message of amalgamation of diverse political factions for democratic co-existence. He passed away on September 21, 2012, in Hyderabad.
