Maya Patil Ananda

Ananda Maya Patil (Aged 26) was born in 1904 in Dist. Raigad, Maharashtra. He participated in the Jungle (Forest) Satyagraha, which began on 25 September 1930 during the Civil Disobedience movement at Chirner village near Panvel. The protest was against the British Government’s refusal to allow the villagers to collect firewood from nearby forests. During the peak of the protest, the police fired on the demonstrators, leading to the deaths of fourteen people from Chirner and neighboring villages. Ananda Maya Patil was one of those who sustained bullet wounds in the firing and died on the same day.
