P. C. Bose

(1899 – 1959) – (Jharkhand)

Prabhat Chandra Bose (Aged 60) born on 17 August 1899 in Khasial village in the Jessore district of British India (now in Bangladesh), was an Indian politician, independence activist, and labor activist from Dhanbad. The Bose family migrated to Jharia from Bengal during his childhood, and P.C. Bose went on to become a teacher at Jharia Raj High School.

He was a noted Indian National Congress politician and Gandhian Independence Activist from Dhanbad. Another notable figure from the region was Purushottam K. Chauhan. He joined the Civil Disobedience and Satyagraha movements during the period 1930 to 1945, was imprisoned five times, and spent about six years in jail. He passed away in 1959.
