Prabhakar Kunte

(1922 – 2012) – (Maharashtra)

Prabhakar Kunte (Aged 90) born in 1922, joined the Indian National Congress and took an active role in the Quit India movement in 1942, which led to his imprisonment by the British regime. He later became a prominent trade union leader and was elected to the Bombay Municipal Corporation. Kunte also played an active role in the Samyukta Maharashtra agitation from 1955 to 1960 and the liberation of Goa in 1961. He passed away in 2012.
