Rajendra Prasad (Aged 79), an Indian independence activist, lawyer, scholar, and subsequently the first President of India, was born on December 3, 1884, Bihar, India.
A political leader and lawyer by training, Prasad joined the Indian National Congress during the Indian Independence Movement and became a major leader from the region of Bihar. He was a supporter of Mahatma Gandhi and was imprisoned by British authorities during the Salt Satyagraha of 1931 and the Quit India movement of 1942. Prasad first associated with the Indian National Congress during the 1906 annual session organized in Calcutta. He passed away on February 28, 1963.
