Ramadevi Acharya

(Rajasthan)

Smt. Ramadevi Acharya came from a family of freedom fighters. Her grandmother was Smt. Gopidevi, her father was Shri Jai Narayan Vyas, and her mother was Smt. Gorja Devi. While her father was in jail, she was tasked with regularly bringing the news from the jail at 4 a.m.

She actively participated in the Quit India Movement in 1942, for the first time. Her routine consisted of attending seminars, participating in processions, and assisting political leaders as much as possible. She always wore Khadi and had to endure lathi-charges and bullet shots due to her political activities. Her involvement in the Indian freedom struggle forced her to live separately from her husband.

Despite facing the enmity of the Thakurs, she persevered through all the hardships and difficulties for the sake of the nation.
