Satya Ranjan Bose, born in 1889, was the son of Sonakanta Bose. While studying for his Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree in a local college, he joined the Anushilan Samiti. However, he was arrested on 30th September 1915 in connection with the Shibpur (Nadia) action. He was charged with sedition and sentenced to life imprisonment by the Trial Court on 16th February 1916. Consequently, he was deported to the Andaman Islands where he spent five years before being repatriated in 1921. He was released in 1925/26. The boat used in this action by the revolutionaries was preserved as a memento at the Krishnanagar Court Compound in West Bengal, India.
