Sher Bahadur Bhandari, who was born in the village of Ballupur, Dist. Dehradun, Uttarakhand, resided in Malaya. He served as a Havaldar in the 2/9 Gurkha Rifles of the British-Indian Army before leaving to join the Indian National Army. He served as a Captain in the First Bahadur Group. Unfortunately, he was injured during the Allied forces’ attack led by the British and was admitted to a hospital in Burma (now Myanmar), where he succumbed to his injuries in 1944.
