Thanapathi Known as Thanapathi Pillai, the chief commander and strategist of Veerapandya Kattabomman, was responsible for administering Kattabomman’s territories and causing headaches for the East India Company. Although he was captured once when the Company attempted to capture Kattabomman, they pardoned him. However, he continued to fight against them, and was eventually caught and hanged alongside Kattabomman. In order to intimidate tax evaders, his head was cut off and displayed in public.
