Tirgunand Khavre

(★ – 1942) – (Jharkhand)

Tirgunand Khavre, whose father’s name was Thakur Prasad Khavre, hailed from Deoghar in Santhal Parganas, Bihar (now in Jharkhand). He was not only an ayurvedic medicine practitioner and social worker but also an active participant in the national struggle. He took part in the Civil Disobedience (1930) and Quit India movements. Unfortunately, he was seriously injured on 26 August 1942 when the police fired on him near Goenka Dharmshala, Deoghar. He was then taken to Dumka Hospital but eventually succumbed to his injuries on 8 September 1942.
