(★ – 1946) – (Kerala)

V.K. Kittan hailed from the village of Vadakkekulangara, Thazhcjayil Veedu, Kalarkoodu, Sanathanapuram in the district of Alappuzha, Kerala. He was actively involved in the movement for responsible government in Travancore and also opposed C. P. Ramaswamy Aiyar’s proposal for setting up an American-style administrative arrangement. Along with other protesters, he demanded the withdrawal and destruction of a temporary police camp set up in Punnapra, which was meant to suppress the agitation and harass the agitators and their families. Unfortunately, during the activist’s raid on the camp, he was fatally shot by the police on 24 October 1946.
