Veerappan

Veerappan hailed from the village of Edair Kadu, post office Vadaku Sefhi Marudur, in the district of Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India. He worked as a civilian employee in the British-Indian Army but resigned from his service in 1942 to join the Indian National Army. He received military training and was assigned to the Third Guerrilla Regiment. He was sent to the Burma (now Myanmar) front to fight for the INA. Veerappan engaged in several battles against the Allied forces and ultimately lost his life during an encounter in 1944.
