Yanadayya Kadiyala, a resident of Kattipadu village in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh, participated in the Quit India movement that began in August 1942. When he refused to contribute to the British War Fund, he was arrested on 11 February 1943 and held in detention at the Ongole Police Station (now in Prakasam district). Sadly, Kadiyala reportedly committed suicide the very next day.
