Arjun Singh Gurjar

(1910 – 1947) – (Haryana)

Arjun Singh Gurjar (Aged 37) was born in 1910 in Sirsa, Haryana. He was a freedom fighter for India and gained such a respected position in the town that he was allowed to court his arrest during the Individual Satyagraha Movement in 1941. He was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment in the district jail, Ferozepore. In 1942, during the Quit India Movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi, he was again arrested and sentenced to one year’s rigorous imprisonment in the old central jail, Multan. He remained in the forefront during the course of the struggle until the attainment of freedom. Gurjar passed away in 1947 in Haryana, shortly after India became independent.
