Arutla Ramchandra Reddy

(1909 – ★) – (Telangana)

Arutla Ramchandra Reddy, an Indian freedom fighter, was born in 1909 in Kolanpak, Alair mandal of Nalgonda district, Telangana, India. He represented the Bhojir constituency from 1962 to 1967. He was one of the leaders and fighters in the armed struggle for freedom against the rule of the Nizam, the last ruler of the erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad. During the 1940s, the communists joined hands with the poor peasants in the present-day Telangana state to overthrow the Nizam’s feudal regime. This was a sub-movement in the later independence struggle of India.

Arutla Ramchandra Reddy’s wife, Arutla Kamala Devi, was also involved in the Freedom Struggle and served as a Member of Legislative Assembly for three terms.
