Ashfaqulla Khan (Aged 27) was born in 1900 in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. He was a prominent freedom fighter who actively fought against the British forces. After Mahatma Gandhi decided to withdraw from the movement following the ‘Chauri Chaura’ incident in 1922, Ashfaqulla was dissatisfied. Along with his friends, he decided to form an organization called the ‘Hindustan Republican Association’ in 1924 to organize an armed revolution to achieve freedom. He was later arrested for his involvement in the ‘Kakori Train Robbery’ and was sentenced to death. On 19th December 1927, he was hanged at the Faizabad Jail.
