Baba Wasakha Singh

(1877 – 1957) – (Punjab)

Baba Wasakha Singh (Aged 80) was born in 1877 in Gilwali, Amritsar. His father’s name was Mihan Singh. He was a well-known leader of the Gaddar movement and was sentenced to death, which was later commuted to transportation for life. He was then deported to the Andamans. After India’s independence, a new Gaddar memorial cum museum was established at Jalandhar under the patronage of Sant Baba Wasakha Singh’s Desh Bhagat Parivar Sahayak Committee. He was elected as the first president of the Yadgaar Committee. Sant Baba passed away in 1957. The nation salutes this brave son for his sacrifice for the motherland.
