Babubhai J. Patel

Babubhai Jashbhai Patel (Aged 91) born on 9 February 1911, was the Chief Minister of Gujarat state in India. He held the office twice: the first time from June 1975 to March 1976 as the leader of Janata Morcha, and the second time from April 1977 to February 1980 as the leader of Janata Party. He was born in Nadiad, Gujarat, and was a lawyer.

He joined the Indian independence movement in 1930 when he was in college and went to jail seven times until 1942. He was awarded the Vallabhbhai Patel Vishva Pratibha award by Vishwa Gujarati Samaj. He passed away by 19 December 2002.
