Bhavanji Arjun Khimji (Aged 68) born on 28 July 1902, was a member of the Indian National Congress. He served twice as a member of the Indian Parliament (lower house) from the Kachchh (Lok Sabha constituency) and was also a member of the Bombay Legislative Assembly from 1937 to 1951. Additionally, Khimji served as the treasurer of the All India Congress Committee.
For his participation in the freedom struggle in India, Khimji was imprisoned several times, from 1931-32, 1940-41, and 1942-44. During the Civil Disobedience Movement, he was one of the cotton merchants who organized the boycott of English firms in the trade, leading to his detention by the local government along with three others. The result was an immediate deadlock in the local cotton market, and the detained merchants had to be released. He passed away in 1970.
