Buddhiram Sahoo

(1905 – 1984) – (Odisha)

Budhiram Sahoo (Aged 79), born in 1905, was a native of Balasore, Odisha, India. He was the son of Mohan Sahoo and Jemamani Sahoo, belonging to Mukulshi village in the Basta police station area of Balasore district. In 1930, he actively participated in the Salt Satyagraha at Kasafala village near the seashore, resulting in his imprisonment. Furthermore, he joined the Quit India movement in 1942 and was once again incarcerated. Despite being eligible for the freedom fighters’ allowance, he refrained from applying for it, as he believed it conflicted with the principles of selfless service to the nation. He passed away in 1984. Notably, he is the father of Nityananda Sahoo, the current Member of the Legislative Assembly (M.L.A.) representing Basta.
