CHANDRAPRABHA SAIKIANI

Chandraprabha Saikiani (Aged 71), a freedom fighter, activist, writer, and pioneer of social reform, was born on March 16, 1901, in Daisingari, Assam, India.

She founded the All Assam Pradeshik Mahila Samiti, a non-governmental organization that works for the welfare of women in Assam. For her contributions, she was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award in India, by the Government of India in 1972.

In addition to this, Chandraprabha Saikiani actively participated in the Civil Disobedience Movement of 1932 and the Non-Cooperation Movement of 1920-21. She passed away by 16 March 1972 Daisingari, Kamrupdistrict, Assam, India.
