Dhruv Kundu (Aged 13) was born in Katihar, Bihar in the year 1929. When the ‘Quit India Movement’ was launched by Mahatma Gandhi in 1942, Dhruv Kundu was just 13 years old. Nevertheless, this courageous adolescent decided to participate in the revolution to free India from British rule. On 13th August 1942, the ‘Quit India’ movement erupted in Katihar.
Under the leadership of Dhruv Kundu, the revolutionaries hoisted the National Flag at the Katihar police station. However, the British soldiers opened fire on the crowd, and Dhruv Kundu was shot and martyred. The undaunted bravery and unmatched enthusiasm of this brave martyr will be remembered forever.
