Jhinabhai Ratanji Desai (Aged 88), better known by his pen name Snehrashmi, was born on 16 April 1903. He was an Indian independence activist and Gujarati language author. He left his studies after matriculation to join the Non-cooperation movement in 1920. In 1921, he enrolled in Gujarat Vidyapith and graduated with a degree in political science in 1926. He worked as a history and political science teacher at Gujarat Vidyapith from 1926 to 1928.
For his involvement in Indian independence activities, he was jailed from 1932 to 1933. He joined Rashtriya Shala as its principal in 1934. In 1938, he became the principal of Sheth Chimanlal Nagindas Vidyalaya and later served as its director. He acted as the Vice Chancellor of Gujarat University three times. He presided over the Gujarati Sahitya Parishad at Madras in 1972 and was also the president of Surat City Congress. He passed away by 6 January 1991.
