L. S. Prabhu

(1896 – 1944) – (Kerala)

L. S. Prabhu (Aged 48) born in 1896 in Thalassery, Kerala, India. He was a lawyer who became involved in the freedom struggle. He completed his law degree in Madras after his school education in Malabar. While practicing law in Thalassery, he became attracted to the freedom movement and became a promoter of Khadi. He later became the ‘Dictator’ of the Congress party in 1930 and was elected as its president in 1931.

L.S. Prabhu donated land for the Congress office in Thalassery and his wife, Kamala Bhai, was also a freedom fighter. He was imprisoned for six months in Vellore jail and fined Rs. 1000 for his participation in the freedom movement. He passed away in 1944.
