Manikya Lal Verma (Aged 72) born on December 4, 1897, played a pivotal role in the Bijolia movement, a farmers’ agitation that took place between 1919 and 1923 in Bhilwara. He was a member of the Constituent Assembly of India in 1949 and also served as the Prime Minister of Rajasthan, India before the state was fully formed. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Chittorgarh in 1957 and from Tonk in 1952. In 1965, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan. Manikya Lal Verma passed away on January 14, 1969.
