On September 30, 1915, he was arrested in connection with the Shibpur (Nadia) Action. The Trial Court sentenced him to life imprisonment and deported him to the Andamans. After being repatriated and released, he was detained behind prison bars for many years. It is noteworthy that the boat used by the revolutionaries in this action is kept as a memento at the Krishnanagar Court Compound in West Bengal, India.
