Neelakanthayya Godachayya Ganachari

Sri Neelakanthayya Godachayya Ganachari (Aged 93) was born on June 10, 1916, in Hosur, Savadatti Taluk, Belagavi District, Karnataka, India. He was a true Gandhian who led a simple life, walking barefooted, wearing Khadi Dhoti, and consuming only goat’s milk and groundnuts. Ganachari fought hard to eradicate bad habits such as alcohol, tobacco chewing, and gowhatya, and was therefore known as the Sarvodaya Saint. He was instrumental in promoting Gandhi’s vision of Gram Swaraj and Khadi. Ganachari passed away on December 14, 2009.
