Pandurang Narayan Salunkhe

Shri Pandurang Narayan Salunkhe (Aged 90) was born on September 12, 1917, in Maldan Tal-Patan, Maharashtra State, India. He was commonly known as Dada and was a freedom fighter representing Satara district’s Patan Taluka in India’s independence movement. He was a member of ‘Prati-sarkar’, formed by Krantisinh Nana Patil.

Salunkhe was imprisoned three to four times between 1939 to 1942 during the struggle against British Raj. He was active mainly in Patan and south Karad Talukas in Satara District. He was arrested by the British government for a period of 6-7 years during this time. In recognition of his contributions to the Indian independence movement, he was awarded the Tamrapatra by the Maharashtra Sarkar in 1975. He also received several local awards for his efforts. He passed away on May 20, 2007, at his home in Maldan Tal-Patan, Satara District, Maharashtra, India.
