Pundit Jagatram, an active member of the Gaddar Party and one of the editors of its organ “Gaddar”, was arrested in 1914 and sentenced to death in the first Lahore Conspiracy Case. However, on appeal, the sentence was commuted to transportation for life. He was subsequently deported to the Cellular Jail in the Andaman Islands.
