Radha Mohan Gadanayak (Aged 89) was born on August 25, 1911, in Kalandapal, Angul, Odisha, India to Mahadeva Gadnayak and Golakamani Devi. He was a renowned Indian poet of Odia literature, best known for his ballads and poetic creations. Considered by many as one of the major Odia poets of the century, he was actively involved in the Indian freedom struggle from a young age and joined the Satyagraha movement of Mahatma Gandhi at the age of 23. Gadanayak was inclined towards the genre of ballads and wrote numerous ballads on various subjects and people such as Kalidasa and Mohandas Gandhi. He passed away on February 21, 2000.
