Radhe Shyam Sharma at the age of 13 years, joined the Indian freedom struggle. Initially, he became an active member of the Arya Samaj and stayed in Alwar for a short span of time. Drawing inspiration from the stature of Jamnalal Bajaj and Kailash Nath Katju, he became a member of the Praja Mandal in 1938.
Sharma was constantly in touch with Baba Narsingh Das, Swami Kumaranand, Hiralal Shastri, and Baba Harish Chandra. He used to exchange correspondence with Batukeshwar Dutt and for a long period of time, he remained the Secretary of the Praja Mandal. In early 1942, he played an active role in the various programs organized on khadi in Sewagram Vardha.
He worked for a short span of time with Azad Morcha, engaging in activities such as stopping trains, keeping bombs, organizing councils and meetings, etc. In 1952, he contested elections.
