Raghunath Choudhary (Aged 88) was born in 1879 in Lawpara, Kamrup, Assam, India. He was an Indian writer from the Jonaki era, also known as the romantic era of Assamese literature. Choudhary earned the nickname Bihogi Kobi (poet of birds) due to the nature-based theme of his writings, mainly focused on birds.
Apart from being a prolific writer, Choudhary was also actively involved in the Indian independence movement, which led to his imprisonment by the British. In 1936, he served as the president of the Tezpur session of the Asam Sahitya Sabha. Choudhary was conferred with the title Kabiratna by Kamrup Sanjeevani Sabha.
His first poem was published in the ‘Jonaki’ magazine. He passed away in November 1967 in Assam, India.
