Rampreet Singha

(1929 – 1963) – (Bihar)

Rampreet Singh was born in 1929 in Ranipur Village, within the jurisdiction of the Phulwari police station in Patna District, Bihar, India. At the tender age of 14, he developed a deep passion for patriotism. Despite having completed only fifth-grade education, he secured a job in the railways but chose not to accept it. Fueled by his strong resentment and anger toward the British, he made the courageous decision to dedicate his life to the struggle for India’s freedom. In 1942, he joined the fight against British colonial rule and made significant contributions. Subsequently, he was apprehended and received an eighteen-month prison sentence for his involvement in the 1942 riots.

Even while incarcerated, he continued to express his dissent through methods such as hunger strikes, raising revolutionary slogans, and engaging in various acts of protest, which resulted in severe punitive measures from the British authorities. His followers and supporters also received the same eighteen-month prison sentences, creating great hardships in their lives. After his release from prison, Rampreet Singh married Najeshwari Devi. He passed away in 1963.
