Ranbir Singh Hooda (Aged 95), an Indian politician from Haryana, was born on 26 November 1914 in Sanghi. In the 1930s, he joined the Gandhian army to contribute to India’s freedom struggle. He participated in a Satyagraha movement in 1941 and was first arrested. During India’s freedom struggle, he was imprisoned several times, spending a total of three and a half years in rigorous imprisonment and being under house arrest for two years.
He was imprisoned in various jails across Rohtak, Ambala, Hisar, Ferozepur, Lahore (Borstal), Lahore (Central), Multan, and Sialkot. During Mahatma Gandhi’s visits to Rohtak and nearby districts of Punjab, he remained closely associated with him. He passed away on 1 February 2009.
