Sahadu Mal

(1865 – 1920) – (Maharashtra)

Sahadu Mal (Aged 55), a farmer’s son, was born in 1865 in the village of Dhumalwadi, tehsil Akola, Dist. Ahmadnagar, Maharashtra. He actively participated in the popular agitation against the repressive functioning of the Mamlatdar, an officer in executive charge of a taluka, at Dhumalwadi village, which started in 1918. In 1918, Sahadu Mal also took part in the attack on the Mamlatdar’s house. As a result, he was arrested by the police for conspiring against the Mamlatdar and transported for life to the Andaman Islands in 1920. It is believed that he died there in the same year.
