Sewa Singh Thikriwala

(1886 – 1935) – (Punjab)

Sewa Singh Thikriwala (Aged 49) born in 1886 in Thikriwala, Punjab, India, belonged to the Dhaliwal Jat family. He became a leader of the Praja Mandal movement in Patiala, which was a former princely state. During the reign of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala and the British, he served as the President of the Riyasat Parjamandal Party. Sardar Ridha Singh Akali of village Ghagga in Patiala district was the vice-president of this party.

Sewa Singh Thikriwala is remembered and honored as a prominent freedom fighter from Punjab. Jagmeet Singh, the leader of Canada’s New Democratic Party, is his great-grandson, and he has other prominent relatives residing in Mohali, Punjab. He passed away in 1935.
