Shihan Singh was a resident of Kuta Duta village in Amritsar district, Punjab. He was among the passengers of the Japanese ship Komagata Maru, which carried Sikh migrants to Canada but was forced to return to India and was stopped at Budge Budge, near Calcutta (Kolkata). Unfortunately, Shihan Singh was shot dead while participating in a scuffle with the police on 29 September 1914.
