Tara Rani Srivastava was an Indian freedom fighter who participated in Mahatma Gandhi’s Quit India Movement. On August 12, 1942, she and her husband organized a march, called upon by Mahatma Gandhi, to raise the Flag of India in front of the Siwan police station, an act that would be seen as “a major defiance.”
In 1942, while leading a march in Siwan towards the police station, her husband was shot by police. Despite this, she continued the march and later found out that her husband had passed away. She remained a part of the struggle for the country’s independence until it was achieved five years later.
