Ujal Sai, a resident of Sambalpur, Orissa (Odisha), participated in the Uprising of 1857 and engaged in multiple confrontations with the British in Sambalpur. However, he was apprehended during one of these encounters and charged with rebellion against the British. Consequently, he was sentenced to death and executed by hanging on 11 June 1858.
