V. C. Balakrishna Panicker

(1889 – 1912) – (Kerala)

Vellaatt Chembalancheri Balakrishna Panicker (Aged 23) born on 1 March 1889 in Oorakam-Keezhmuri near Malappuram, Kerala, India. He was a journalist and poet known for his poems, slokas, plays, articles, and translations, including his elegy Oru Vilapam and his description of nature, Viswaroopam. He was also the author of Manki Geetha.

He came from a poor family but was able to stay at Mankavu Palace in Kozhikode for 4 years where he interacted with other poets and authors. In 1910, he wrote a well-known editorial on 26 October against the externment of Swadeshabhimani Ramakrishna Pillai. He passed away on 20 October 1912.
