Vansanga

(★ – 1889) – (Mizoram)

Vansanga born in Khawnglung village in the Lunglei district of the Lushai Hills (now Mizoram), India. He was the chieftain of the village. During the second British expedition (1888-89) into the Lushai Hills, he played a key role in offering armed resistance to the enemy. However, he was defeated, captured from his village, and imprisoned at the Lunglei Army Camp in 1889. Due to severe ill-treatment and torture, he died in British custody that same year.
