Vinodanand Jha, a resident of Madhupur, Jamtara, and Sahibganj in Bihar (now in Jharkhand), actively participated in the Non-Cooperation and Salt Satyagraha movements. During the Civil Disobedience movement of 1930, he carried khadi on his head for sale and attempted to show a black flag to the visiting Governor in Deoghar but was prevented by the police. In the Quit India movement, he led a large number of Congress volunteers in Deoghar and made an attempt to unfurl the Tricolour Flag at Deoghar Court. However, he was arrested and imprisoned, where he later passed away.
