Virupakshappa a resident of Davanagere, Karnataka, India. He participated in the Quit India Movement of 1942. He took part in picketing at the Taluk Office and also actively participated in stopping military vehicles and railway trains. However, while he was involved in picketing, the police fired on the protesters in Davanagere on 17 August 1942, which resulted in Virupakshappa being shot dead. He was only 25 years old at the time of his death.
