Vishnu Ganesh Pingle (Aged 27) was born on January 2, 1888, in the village of Talekhan Tandor in the district. He was one of the main coordinators of the Qadar movement that erupted in Punjab in 1915 and actively participated in the insurgent campaign. In March 1915, he went to the military cantonments of Meerut and Ambala and instructed soldiers to revolt against the British for India’s independence.
However, Bingle was betrayed and arrested on March 23, 1915. He and other Qadir heroes were tried in 1915 (Lahore conspiracy case) and charged with plotting to overthrow British rule by creating dissent within the army, in the style of the 1857 uprising. Bingle was convicted and sentenced to death under sections 121 (incitement to war), 121A, 122, 124A, 395, 396, 397, 398, 131, and 132 of the Indian Penal Code. Vishnu Ganesh Bingle and his colleague Kartar Singh Saraba were hanged in Lahore Central Jail on November 16, 1915, and became symbols of India’s revolutionary freedom struggle.
